That’s a really cheap superbike. At least I think, I'm not sure I was ever in the market for one before now.

Man, I don’t know why he doesn’t just sell updated FXR frames and motor mounts for newer Harleys. Lord knows he'd never go out of business.

Yeah but for that money you can get a new Mitsubishi Mirage and have a roof and air conditioning.

Or you could buy a well kept El Camino, have the front end reinforced, and ram somebody’s brand new Mitsubishi Mirage into a ditch where it belongs...

...But you’d probably have more fun on the Buell.

You underestimate my Mad Max tendencies. I'd probably have more fun with the ElCa.

The problem is most sportbike guys want an import. It's like when the Big 2.5 tried to sell the SRT-4, SVT Focus, and Z24 Cavalier to the sport compact crowd. It didn't matter that they were equal to the imports - the sport compact people specifically wanted imports.

they had good enougnes, but the rest junk.

and yea, EBR has one hell of a mountian to climb. The imports have a histor of reliability, power, handling....

what does the american bike market offer? tassels and the lowest power/CC this side of of the emissions choked malaise era.

Can you really say that about motorcycles considering there are no domestic sport bikes? And the Vrod and 1200XR don’t count. Sport bike guys buy imports, because that is the only option...

Jeez, I just want an American anything that isn’t a cruiser. Where are all the american dirtbikes, standards, dual sports, sports, hell even scooters? It’s not like we don’t have huge markets for every single one of those categories. Is it too much to ask for a decent US bike that weighs less than 600lb and has a modern engine without chrome? Apparently so...

I should buy now. Buell went under when I when I was shopping for my 1125CR. I took a week off to think about it and then picked it up the next week for just under 60% off MSRP.

Just looked and there are a number of 1190RXs in the 10-12k range new.

I was really thinking about that 143 cubic inch S&S Dragon motor in a simple, triangulated frame with good stiff mounts and a 27 degree rake, then whatever chopper parts you could throw together. Imagine being able to make your own CoC FXR with your own parts...

So converting 146 cu to cc’s, you get a 2300 cc motor... for a bike... That’s just getting ridiculous. That motor alone probably weighs more than most sportbikes....

IDK why u think you need the equivalent of a boat anchor in a frame to hold up to one.

You think the warrant will still be covered on those bikes, since he went bankrupt. I wouldn't mind shelling out and extra few grand for that

Under the Harley ownership period (when I got mine) Harley covered the full warranty through the life of the bike. Once EBR got out on it’s own and then went under things are different.

From a BadWeb thread:

“EBR will not honor warranties for the existing motorcycles. He (Erik) said the current parts inventory has been discounted to accommodate those affected with issues. He apologized for this and stated it was out of his control. They will offer free tech support for any owner that is having issues.”

LAP (EBR’s new owner) could offer warranty claims, but they are not obligated to do so. And it sounds like they won’t. The big sticking point for me would be availability of parts. That’s the item that might be the worst. If no parts, the warranty is worthless anyways. I’m not sure if LAP will allow “old/previous” part runs to be made or if previous suppliers can/will do that. The upside is that EBR has committed to continue the current product line of bikes, at least in the near term. Parts should be available, but not sure if they would be from the same suppliers, which could potentially lead to minor differences in the service part itself.

Lots of Buell enthusiast/info on BadWeatherBikers, so even if something went wrong, a lot could be fixed on your own.
